The building which houses the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design is an extremely impressive example of the characteristic Flemish bourgeois architecture of the 18th century. On entering the museum one is immersed in the world of a rich, 18th-century Ghent family. The drawing rooms with authentic parquet floors and panelled walls and ceilings are adorned with a wealth of period furniture. The new extension to the museum is in itself a sight worth seeing. The 18th-century facade facing the inner courtyard has been completely restored. Behind it there is a light and airy modern building. Ai Weiwei's table with pole "infiltrated" and was shown in this museum from April 30 till Jun 13, 2004.

The Musée d'Art Contemporain was inaugurated at the occasion of the Third Lyon Biennial. Its policy of promoting the creation of works of art, which is without any real equivalent in France, gives artists the opportunity to experiment with unusual materials, forms, ideas and dimensions and to create works that are in harmony with the venues in which they are presented. Today, the collection houses the largest number of installations ever brought together by a museum in France. The MCAF participated, through loan of Wang Xingwei works, in the exhibition "Le Moine et le Démon", which ran from June 9 till August 15, 2004.

   
 

Provinciaal Museum voor Moderne Kunst - PMMK - : http://www.pmmk.be
The provincial Museum for Modern Art of the West Flanders Province. The building which houses the museum was originaly conceived -in 1947- as a supermarket. It was transformed to a museum for modern and contemporary art in 1986. The museum disposes of 12.000 m² exhibition space, on 5 different levels. MCAF participated in the 2001 exhibition "New Classical Movements in the Art of Today " through loan of works.

Situated in Florence, on the 2nd floor of Palazzo Spini Feroni, the museum was opened to the public in 1995 by the Ferragamo family, in an effort to illustrate Ferragamo's artistic qualities and the important role he played in the history of shoe design and international fashion. The museum arranges exhibitions of its own historical collection with the participation of contemporary artists, and promotes and hosts exhibitions and events linked to art and culture. MCAF participated in the exhibition CHINESE OBJECT: DREAMS & OBSESSIONS from June 21 to August 31, 2004 through a loan of works from Ai Weiwei

Kunsthal Sint-Pietersabdij organises cultural-historical exhibitions in the abbey of St. Peter, one of the most beautiful monuments in Gent. Different objects and works of art are continuously shown, carefully chosen within a certain framework. Ai Weiwei's "coca cola vase" infiltrated the exhibition "The Realm of the Dragon" which was held from April 2 to August 29, 2004.

Flanders Opera manages two magnificent historical buildings in Gent and Antwerp. Each season they bring the same programme at both stages, which is unique in Europe. Flanders Opera is working with the best of a new generation of young artists from Belgium and abroad. In that way they are able to captivate the attention of over 120000 visitors per season from all over Belgium and other European countries.Ai Weiwei's majestic chandelier "infiltrated" the Flemish Opera in Gent and was exhibited in one of the spaces from April 30 till June 13, 2004.
