Yin Zhaoyang	Document to introduce modern Chinese art With its extensive database on more than 3000 artists, the Modern Chinese Art Foundation holds one of the largest existing databases on modern Chinese art. The Foundation makes this electronic database available for studies. In its undertakings, the foundation emphasises the idea that visual arts and artefacts should be evaluated within the large historical and cultural context in which they were created. The foundation works at perpetuating the study and understanding of Chinese art by updating and compiling its existing archive/library and making works available for study, exhibition and related purposes worldwide. The archives (artist's sketches, …) are available for consulting, as are the documentary videos. The foundation continues to enlarge its documentation center through purchase of major publications related to Chinese modern and contemporary art. Through this documentation centre and archive, the foundation wishes to be instrumental in creating a larger international comprehension of modern Chinese art. While the larger part of the archives is stored in Beijing, publications may be consulted in the foundation's premises in Gent. The Gent library is an extensive collection of major publications related to Chinese modern and contemporary art. It includes monographs, exhibition catalogues, magazines and reviews relevant to the study of subjects related to the various mediums used or themes approached in art history in China and the rest of the world. Each month, on our website, a few publications are selected and suggested to the public accompanied with a comment. The Modern Chinese Art Foundation's website is being updated continuously. It contains all information on the foundation, a list of events, lists of books, monographs and catalogues in the Gent library, biographies of all the MCAF artists, the works in the collection, details on current, past and future events, links to related sites and any information relevant to the foundation and its aims.
