Promote to familiarize modern Chinese art

The Modern Chinese Art Foundation promotes modern Chinese art and makes it available for studies, exhibitions and other manifestations on an international level.
Apart from the exhibitions it organises itself, both in its premises in Beijing and Gent, the Foundation partakes in other cultural activities.

Through its location, in the centre of Europe, the Gent-based foundation facilitates the organization of exhibitions related to modern Chinese art.
As an illustration of which, the Caermersklooster (Gent, Belgium), the Provincial Center for Art and Culture, worked with the foundation to organize a solo show for Beijing artist Ai Weiwei. The exhibition ran from April 30 to June 13, 2004. (more details)

In addition, works from the collection are available for loan to museums and other institutions.

One of the Modern Chinese Art Foundation's own recurrent activities is the highlighting, during three months, of one piece of the collection. (more details)
To do so, it is displayed in the front area of the foundation in Gent, directly behind the windows and lit until late at night. Information on the artist, such as a biography, a bibliography, texts, essays and publications may be consulted inside.
Each time a new work or artist is "highlighted", a Belgian contemporary artist is invited to "open a dialogue" with the exhibited work or with the totality of the works of the exhibited artist. The works of the Belgian artist are then exhibited, for the same period of time, inside the MCAF premises.
This activity is emphasised on the website.
In the Beijing premises, a display, possibly accompanied by exposition of other works of the same artist, is organised during the same period.

推广 - 了解中国现代艺术

基金会致力于推广中国现代艺术，并在国际范围内提供研究和展示中国现代艺术的平台。除了在北京和根特举办展览，基金会也参与两地的其他各种文化活动。

基金会借助其比利时根特所在地作为欧洲中心的地理位置优势，为举办与中国现代艺术有关的展览提供了便利。

其中较有代表性的是Caermersklooster（位于比利时根特），作为省级艺术和文化中心，它曾与本基金合作，为北京艺术家艾未未举办了一次个人展览，展出时间从二零零四年四月三十日至六月十三日。(more details)

MCAF本身有一个经常性的活动，即用一整月的时间专门介绍一件收藏。 (more details)
该收藏在根特所在地的显眼位置予以展示，直接陈列在玻璃柜中，展品的灯光亮至深夜。同时提供该展品艺术家的资料，比如自传，文献，书籍，散文，和出版物。每个月第一天会更换新的藏品。 MCAF网站会在访客点击进入一开始时就展示该作品，并进一步介绍作品和作者的细节。同时，北京所在地也会在同一个月展示同一个艺术家的其他作品。
