1937 born in Nantong, Jiangsu province
1962 graduated from the Dong Xiwen Studio at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing
1978-83 teaching at the same institute
1983-96 visiting scholar at the Columbia University and University of Tufts, USA
Since 1996 director of the Fourth's Painting Studio of the Central Academy of Fine Arts
Works and lives in Beijing, China
