Alessandro Rolandi was born in Pavia on 18th April 1971, lives and works in Beijing, China.

After having studied chemistry and pharmacy in the Universities of Pavia and Siena, he decided to start a creative research both in plastic and performance arts; he started attending several professional artists studios in Italy, Spain, France and lately, China. He also attended for several years the classical theatre and dance programs at the Scuola europea di Danza et Teatro of the Carcano theatre in Milan and followed the seminars of Experimental Theatre and Dance at the Studio DeFazio in Roma. He then moved first to Spain and then to Paris, where he studied Histroy of Art and the market at Christie's Education and continued his experimental theatre training with several local theatre companies.

His theatre experience as actor, director, scenographer and performer includes working and study with Dominique De Fazio in Roma, the company 'I Rabdomanti' in Milan, Eleonora Marino for Confluences, Maison des Arts urbains in Paris and the Hart Center for the Arts and Nu productions in Beijing.

His plastic art education includes working, studying with Oliviero Masi, Saint Clair Cernin, Miquel Barceo, David Evison, Terry Rosenberg, Bard Brevik, Chen Qing Qing and Li Gang.

He has been lecturer and teacher of Art, Drama and History of Art at the following institutions : Christie's Education Paris, Institut d'Etudes Politiques, 'Science Po', Paris Capital Normal University Fine Arts College in Beijing, Tsinghua University, College of Art and Industrial Design, Beijing, China Foreign Affair University, Beijing Western Academy of Beijing, WAB.

He is currently teaching Art, Drama and History of Art at Harrow International School, Beijing, at Ivy Academy and Hutong school, Beijing.

Early on he had an experience developing creativiy with autistic and borderline children at the Scuola Speciale Dosso Verde, Pavia, Italy.

His published works include the poetry selection 'Ceneri di Vita', Libroitaliano 1997, the short stories 'Racconti", Joppolo 1996, the poetry selection 'Maledicted Prayers', Minerva Press, London 1998, twice selected and published for the short novels contest 'Premio Breta' in 1999 and 2000. He has been invited as plastic artist and poet to the Journee Mondiale de la Poesie 2003 at the Maison de l'Italie in Paris.

He has currently stared a collaboration as a writer and illustrator with the independent avant guard magazine Homonumus, published in Beijing.
