Zhou Yunxia

Oil paintings

Exhibition in our Ghent premises

When I was newly born, a Daoist priest chose the name Yunxia (yun: cloud  - Xia: chivalrous or knight-errant) for me. Now, numerous years later –I am already over 40 years old-, I know what destiny held for me. Before, I thought that reality is absurd. Now I am even more convinced that people's destiny means nothing.

I feel that the fact that fate means nothing, implies that people can only realize small matters and speak unimportant words. Small matters lead to small works of art; unimportant words lead to poor ideology, to eating, drinking and producing garbage; to the basic necessities of life.

Zhou Yunxia, 2011

During the exhibition, a presentation is given about a wider range of Zhou Yunxa's work.
